Not my dream job

From The Safer Cigarette Delusion

Smokers of light or low-tar cigarettes need to realize that the industry is not so much concerned about their health as it is worried, in the words of an internal document, that their penchant to quit smoking entirely could pose “a special problem for the cigarette industry.”

Working in the Marketing department of such a peculiar industry might pose such peculiar challenges.
How to sell a product that the customer knows will slowly kill him/her?
How to sell a product to a customer, who will be highly discouraged and maybe even blackmailed by his near and dear ones against the use of it?

I am sure those Marketing managers are very thankful for the highly addictive nature of tobacco.

I know of some people who took a conscious decision NOT to work on such a role - solely because they felt that it was unethical.

And I agree with them.
